A late 19th-century Persian Khorassan Moud carpet from around 1890, measuring approximately 304.9 × 457.5 cm (about 10'0" × 15'0"). The composition pairs a peach-toned field with a brown border, executed in the finely drawn small-scale vocabulary that defines the Moud weaving tradition. Moud is a village in the Khorassan province of northeastern Persia (now Iran), historically known for one of the highest knot counts in norheastern Persian carpet production. Moud carpets are typically built around small-scale repeating floral and Herati vocabularies, executed at high knot densities on cotton foundations — characteristics that have made them particularly favored among formal antique carpet collectors. Hand-knotted wool. Authentic one-of-a-kind antique.
