Antique Peking Room Size Wool Blue Navy Rug, Circa Date: 1920s. This exceptional Chinese weaving captures the elegance of the early Republican era, showcasing the refined aesthetic typical of the finest antique rugs produced in the capital region. The luxurious, deep pile is dominated by a saturated indigo ground, providing a striking canvas for the highly stylized motifs. This powerful use of the blue color rugs palette emphasizes the golden-ochre and vibrant coral accents, allowing the symbolic emblems to float dramatically across the field. Central to the design are large, circular medallions, intricately detailed with Shou symbols for longevity, framed by stylized peonies and scrolling vines. The field is sparsely populated with various auspicious objects, including vases and stylized flora, rendered in the characteristic bold, graphic style of 1920s Peking production.
