Antique Oversized N. Persian Persian Geometric Knotted Rug, Country of Origin: Iran / Persia, Circa Date: 1850s. This exceptional piece offers a rare glimpse into mid-19th-century weaving traditions, showcasing the masterful craftsmanship inherent to its Persian provenance. Its impressive scale suggests it was commissioned for a grand estate, reflecting the wealth and taste of its original owner. The field is dominated by a highly detailed, repeating boteh and stylized floral motif, arranged in a precise, all-over lattice. While the overall impression is of dense ornamentation and endless repeat, the underlying structure adheres strictly to a sophisticated geometric design, lending order and balance to the complex iconography that defines this Northern Persian style.
