Antique N. Persian Large Room Size Wool Dark Rug, Circa Date: 1775. This exceptional textile is a rare survival from the late 18th century, demonstrating the deep weaving traditions of Northern Persia. Its dense, all-over field pattern, executed in rich wool, places it among the finest examples of antique rugs from this period. The primary field is dominated by a deep, saturated indigo, providing a dramatic backdrop for the stylized palmettes and rosettes. The palette is carefully restrained, utilizing cochineal reds and soft accents of cream and muted tones, classifying it among desirable earth tone color rugs. A strong, rust-red main border frames the composition, featuring repeating geometric medallions interspersed with minor guard borders displaying intricate vine work.
