Antique Art Deco Room Size Wool Taupe Rug, Circa Date: 1920s. This magnificent piece presents the quintessential aesthetic of the early 20th-century Chinese Art Deco movement. The central field is dominated by a rich, variegated taupe, offering a sophisticated neutral backdrop. This deep, earthy hue grounds the composition, making it a superb example of brown earth tone color rugs. The decoration is rendered with remarkable restraint, characteristic of the period's departure from dense traditional patterns. Delicate vines, butterflies, and scattered floral sprays—executed in soft coral, gold, and white—gracefully trail inward from the deep indigo border. The composition emphasizes negative space, allowing the luxurious wool pile and subtle color shifts of the field to command attention.
