Antique American Multicolor 1930s Quilt: a quilt made in the United States, 80 x 96 inches (6'8" x 8'). It is pieced from fabric and quilted through to a backing, not knotted or woven like a rug. Quilts like this were made as bed coverings; today they are hung as textile art or used as a throw or bed topper. Because it is a textile, we do not recommend it for use on the floor. This exceptional American textile piece captures the vibrant, homespun aesthetic of the Depression era. It is a rare example of the quilt style quilt, utilizing a highly graphic, block-based composition that immediately draws the eye. The design employs a striking, concentric square arrangement built from countless small, checkerboard squares.
