Vintage Aubusson in soft, faded pastels. A bouquet of pink roses sits at the centre of a pale cream field, framed by a pale blue ground with taupe acanthus scrolls, rose sprays and shell cartouches. A wide dusty rose border finishes the rug. Quiet, romantic colour.Hand woven in China, circa 1980. Hand woven in the Aubusson tapestry technique: a flat weave made entirely by hand, colour by colour, the same way carpets were woven in Aubusson, France in the 18th century. 100% wool, with no pile and no latex. Carpets from this workshop carry a label stating they use more than sixty shades of wool and take a team of designers and weavers over a year to complete.Brand new and never used, yet vintage: it was woven decades ago and is no longer in production.
