Vintage Aubusson with a garden trellis design. A wide frame of grape vines, green leaves and coral grape clusters climbs a cream lattice around a pale field of faded vine leaves, all set in a broad soft grey border. Quiet, natural colour with a fresh garden feel.Hand woven in China, circa 1980. Hand woven in the Aubusson tapestry technique: a flat weave made entirely by hand, colour by colour, the same way carpets were woven in Aubusson, France in the 18th century. 100% wool, with no pile and no latex. Carpets from this workshop carry a label stating they use more than sixty shades of wool and take a team of designers and weavers over a year to complete.Brand new and never used, yet vintage: it was woven decades ago and is no longer in production.
