Vintage Aubusson with a classic French medallion. An oval bouquet of pink roses sits on a cream centre, framed by burgundy and gold acanthus scrolls and a band of soft lavender blue. A cream border of flowering vines with a gold dot guard is edged in deep burgundy. Rich, warm and formal.Hand woven in China, circa 1980. Hand woven in the Aubusson tapestry technique: a flat weave made entirely by hand, colour by colour, the same way carpets were woven in Aubusson, France in the 18th century. 100% wool, with no pile and no latex. Carpets from this workshop carry a label stating they use more than sixty shades of wool and take a team of designers and weavers over a year to complete.Brand new and never used, yet vintage: it was woven decades ago and is no longer in production.
