Vintage Aubusson with an all-over Renaissance scroll design. Rows of mirrored acanthus scrolls in gold, taupe and brown cover an ivory field, framed by a narrow chocolate line and a wide border of the same scrollwork, with a plain chocolate brown edge. Calm, neutral colour that works in almost any room.Hand woven in China, circa 1980. Hand woven in the Aubusson tapestry technique: a flat weave made entirely by hand, colour by colour, the same way carpets were woven in Aubusson, France in the 18th century. 100% wool, with no pile and no latex. Carpets from this workshop carry a label stating they use more than sixty shades of wool and take a team of designers and weavers over a year to complete.Brand new and never used, yet vintage: it was woven decades ago and is no longer in production. Rare and one of a kind. Hand woven Aubussons of this size and detail are seldom offered.
