Antique Caucasian - Sumak Small Scatter Size Wool Blue Rug, Circa Date: 1900s. This exceptional example of Sumak weaving, a flat-woven technique distinct from pile carpets, showcases the robust artistic tradition of the Caucasus region. Its vibrant palette and dense composition place it among the most desirable antique rugs of the early 20th century. The foundation of the design is dominated by a striking, saturated indigo field, providing a deep contrast to the secondary hues of madder red, salmon pink, and ochre. The masterful use of this primary shade elevates it above typical tribal pieces, making it a compelling addition to any collection of blue color rugs. The wool is lustrous and finely spun, characteristic of high-quality Caucasian production.
