Antique Chinese - Art Deco Room Size Oversized Wool Yellow Rug, Circa Date: 1920s. This exceptional example of antique rugs captures the transitional elegance between traditional Chinese weaving and the emerging Art Deco aesthetic of the early 20th century. Its construction and palette reflect the sophisticated taste prevalent during the Republic period. The expansive field is dominated by a luminous, saturated shade, often described as saffron or deep yellow, which provides a dramatic backdrop for the stylized iconography. This rich color choice is characteristic of high-quality Chinese production, lending warmth and depth to the overall composition of this magnificent yellow rug. The design is characterized by an open composition, featuring delicate, meandering branches and blossoms, typical of floral rugs from this era.
