Soft Light Blue Color Antique Oversized Large Scale All Over Design Persian Sultanabad Rug

Antique Oversized Sultanabad Persian Geometric Knotted Rug, Circa Date: 1880s. This magnificent example of late 19th-century Persian weaving originates from the Sultanabad region, known for its grand scale and distinctive palette. The expansive field is dominated by a rare, luminous celadon hue, a sophisticated variation of blue color rugs that provides a striking contrast to the warm, earthy tones of the main border. The design features an open, repeating lattice of oversized palmettes and stylized floral elements, characteristic of the Western Persian revival style favored by European and American importers. This bold, decentralized pattern avoids a central medallion, allowing the eye to traverse the entire composition. Such pieces represent the pinnacle of antique rugs produced during the Qajar period.
