Antique Chinese - Ningxia Chinese Ivory 1890s Ivory Rug, Circa Date: 1890s. This exceptional late 19th-century Ningxia runner exemplifies the refined aesthetic of Chinese court weaving. The composition relies on a striking contrast between the deep indigo blue and the luminous ivory color ground, a palette highly prized in export and domestic markets alike. The elongated, narrow format suggests its original use in a hallway or along a k'ang (raised platform). While technically a runner, its dimensions place it within the category of a small scatter size piece, making it highly versatile for contemporary interiors. The field is organized vertically, featuring three large, circular medallions filled with dense, stylized flora and traditional symbols of longevity.
