Small Square Antique Persian Malayer Wool Pile Throw Rug

Antique Malayer Small Square Scatter Size Wool Blue Rug, Circa Date: 1920s. This exquisite square piece exemplifies the enduring quality of the malayer weaving tradition, originating from the Hamadan region of Persia during the early 20th century. The palette is dramatically rendered, utilizing a rich, near-black indigo ground—qualifying it among our finest blue color rugs—which serves as a backdrop for the vibrant, saffron-toned repeating floral elements. This dense, continuous allover design fills the central diamond field of this square rug, creating a mesmerizing visual texture. Despite its age, the wool pile remains robust, showcasing the durability inherent in nomadic village production. Measuring in the small scatter size, this square rug is perfectly suited for transitional spaces, entryways, or as a sophisticated accent piece layered over larger flooring.
