Antique Chinese - Ningxia Chinese Yellow 1830s Rug, Circa Date: 1830s. This exceptional Ningxia piece dates to the Daoguang period of the Qing Dynasty, representing a highly sought-after category within antique rugs. Its compact, Square format suggests it may have served as a ceremonial cushion or seat cover, showcasing the refined weaving traditions of the region. The luminous field is saturated with a rare, aged imperial yellow, a hue traditionally reserved for high-ranking officials and the imperial court, making this a significant example of yellow color rugs. This rich ground provides a dramatic backdrop for the bold, stylized motifs rendered in deep indigo and soft white, highlighting the sophisticated use of limited color palettes characteristic of early 19th-century Chinese weaving.
