Antique Chinese - Art Deco Chinese Yellow 1920s Rug, Circa Date: 1920s. This exceptional piece captures the bold, modern aesthetic of the Art Deco movement as interpreted by master weavers in China. Its vibrant palette and simplified design distinguish it among antique rugs of the period, offering a sophisticated counterpoint to more traditional Oriental carpets. The composition is dominated by a central field of brilliant, saturated yellow color rugs, framed by a wide border of deep rose or fuchsia. This high-contrast pairing is characteristic of the 1920s design sensibility, moving away from traditional muted tones toward expressive, jewel-like hues that define the Art Deco era. A single, elegantly rendered flowering branch dominates the central panel, showcasing stylized blossoms and leaves in soft blues, greens, and purples.
