Antique Malayer Persian Brown 1940s Rug, Circa Date: 1940s. This exquisite example of a malayer weaving showcases the sophisticated village artistry characteristic of Western Persia. The piece is defined by its strong structure and highly saturated, yet muted, palette, embodying the durable elegance prized in mid-century antique textiles. The central field presents a striking arrangement of diagonal bands, a highly effective use of pattern that provides dynamic movement, classifying the overall design within the category of geometric rugs. These bands alternate between deep chocolate and lighter cocoa hues, establishing a rich tapestry of brown earth tone color rugs that speaks to a refined, natural aesthetic. Contrasting sharply with the structured field, the ivory primary border features complex, stylized floral medallions and meandering vine work, executed with remarkable detail.
