Rustic Room Size Antique Primitive Tribal Coral Persian Serapi Heriz Carpet

Antique Serapi Persian Coral 1890s Rug, Circa Date: 1890s. This exceptional Serapi represents the pinnacle of late 19th-century weaving from Northwest Persia. Serapi rugs are highly sought after among collectors of antique rugs for their superb wool quality and sophisticated adaptation of tribal designs into a more formal, large-scale aesthetic. The commanding palette is defined by a deep, saturated coral field, beautifully contrasted by the luminous ivory of the central medallion and spandrels. Secondary tones of slate blue, deep indigo, and ochre provide necessary grounding and definition to the complex structure. The natural dyes have aged gracefully, achieving a patina that only time can bestow. Unlike the more curvilinear designs of urban Persian weaving, this Serapi features the bold, angular structure characteristic of the Heriz region.
