Antique Chinese - Art Deco Chinese 1930s Rug, Country of Origin: China, Circa Date: 1930s. This exceptional example of Chinese Art Deco weaving captures the transition from traditional design to modernist aesthetics. The piece belongs to a distinguished collection of antique rugs that emphasize artistic innovation. Its provenance confirms its status among the finest Chinese rugs produced during this pivotal era. The composition is defined by a vast, atmospheric field rendered in a sophisticated slate-blue hue, allowing the sparse ornamentation to command attention. Against this expansive negative space, the stylized motifs—executed in soft corals, peaches, and pale greens—appear almost suspended, demonstrating the Art Deco preference for asymmetry and dramatic contrast found in the best floral rugs.
