Antique Chinese - Peking Ivory 1900s Rug, Circa Date: 1900s. This exceptional Chinese Peking carpet exemplifies the restrained elegance of early 20th-century weaving. The expansive field is rendered in a soft, aged ivory color palette, providing a serene backdrop for the deep indigo and navy accents that define the structure. The design employs a classic open-field format, centering on a complex circular medallion rendered in shades of blue and tan. Scattered across the ground are various auspicious symbols and stylized floral motifs, characteristic of the refined court taste that influenced Peking production during this era. A dramatic, wide border frames the composition, utilizing geometric fretwork and detailed vine scrolls in contrasting navy blue.
