Red Background Blue Striped Antique Oversized Flat Woven Indian Dhurrie Rug

Antique Oversized Dhurrie Indian Flat Weave Rug, Country of Origin: India, Circa Date: 1935. This striking example of early 20th-century weaving showcases the graphic simplicity often found in Dhurrie rugs. Its construction as a flat weave provides a lightweight yet durable texture, distinguishing it from traditional pile carpets and making it ideal for high-traffic areas. The design relies entirely on the powerful contrast between wide bands of deep indigo and vibrant red. This highly graphic aesthetic makes the piece exceptionally versatile in modern or minimalist interiors, though the use of natural dyes and traditional techniques firmly roots it within the enduring tradition of Indian rugs. Measuring at an impressive scale, this textile functions beautifully as one of the increasingly sought-after room size rugs.
