Antique Malayer Persian 1900s Rug, Country of Origin: Iran Persia, Circa Date: 1900s. This exceptional piece exemplifies the enduring quality and sophisticated design inherent in the Iranian Persian heritage. Woven during the early 20th century, it showcases the highly detailed craftsmanship typical of the region's master weavers. The composition is centered around a striking, ivory-ground diamond medallion, which contrasts sharply with the red field. This central element is densely populated with intricate, repeating stylized floral motifs rendered in deep indigo, sage, and crimson. The overall density of the design reflects the high technical standards of the Persian Malayer rug weaving tradition. The primary field color is a rich, deep red, characteristic of natural dyes achieving a profound patina over time.
