Antique Chinese - Art Deco Chinese Purple 1920s Purple Rug, Circa Date: 1920s. This exceptional example of Chinese Art Deco weaving captures the sophisticated transition of design prevalent in the early 20th century. Its striking aesthetic, combining traditional motifs with modern saturation, makes it a highly desirable piece among antique rugs collectors. The field is dominated by a saturated, almost electric purple hue—a bold choice characteristic of the Art Deco period's departure from muted palettes. This intense shade ensures the piece functions as a dramatic focal point, distinguishing it from typical purple color rugs of the era and providing a foundation for the delicate, multi-colored ornamentation. The composition features a delicate, open design, where stylized scrolling vines and scattered blossoms create a lyrical frame around the central field.
