Purple Antique Floral Art Deco Chinese Carpet

Antique Art Deco Chinese Allover Floral Purple 1920s Rug, Circa Date: 1920s. This striking Art Deco carpet, hailing from the 1920s, is defined by its extraordinarily deep, saturated purple field. The use of such a vibrant hue, complemented by contrasting accents, marks a departure from earlier, more restrained palettes. The composition features a sophisticated allover design, where stylized floral sprays and auspicious emblems—including butterflies and vases—are scattered across the expansive field. This piece represents the finest tradition of antique rugs from the Republican era, showcasing a masterful balance between negative space and intricate detail. A complex border system frames the central drama, utilizing tonal bands.
