This oversized antique Persian Sultanabad carpet by Ziegler, dating to approximately 1890, represents the pinnacle of late 19th-century Persian rugs tailored for the grandest Western interiors. Emerging from the celebrated workshops of Ziegler & Co. in the Arak district, this piece embodies the "Ziegler style"—a harmonious synthesis of traditional Persian craftsmanship, and an aesthetic sensibility favored by the European and American elite of the Victorian era. Its monumental scale, measuring an impressive 17' x 23', makes it a formidable architectural element capable of unifying a palatial drawing room or a sprawling formal library. Format: rectangular, mansion carpet The carpet’s design is characterized by an elegant allover floral pattern, eschewing the central medallion in favor of a continuous, rhythmic flow of expansive palmettes and scrolling vines.
