Light Blue Tribal Allover Design Antique Room Size Persian Heriz Serapi Rug

Antique Serapi Room Size Wool Blue Rug, Circa Date: 1880s. This exceptional example of weaving artistry originates from the Heriz district of Northwest Persia, known for producing some of the most enduring and architecturally scaled Serapi rugs. The Serapi designation often refers to finer, older examples from this region, characterized by their more refined drawing and exceptional quality of hand-spun wool. The central field is dominated by a deep, saturated indigo, creating a striking contrast against the warm terracotta and rust tones of the border and secondary motifs. This masterful use of natural dyes ensures the longevity and depth of the palette, defining it as a superb example among blue color rugs. The design utilizes an allover pattern of stylized palmettes and geometric blossoms, avoiding a central medallion in favor of continuous, harmonious movement.
