Light Blue Antique Oversized Persian Mostofi Design Sultanabad Rug

$162,500.00

Antique Oversized Sultanabad Persian Knotted Rug, Circa Date: 1890s. This magnificent example of 19th-century Persian weaving is notable for its impressive scale, classifying it among the finest oversized rugs of the period. Sultanabad carpets from this era are celebrated for their sophisticated handling of color and their robust, yet elegant, construction. The primary palette is defined by a deep, yet beautifully muted, indigo field that transitions to a soft, dusty sky blue color. This cool foundation is dramatically warmed by the stylized botanical elements rendered in rich terracotta and cream, typical of the Sultanabad aesthetic favored by European designers looking for decorative impact.
