Large Scale Allover Design Blue Background Antique Persian Room Size Sultanabad Rug

Antique Sultanabad Persian Blue 1890s Rug, Circa Date: 1890s. This magnificent example of a late 19th-century Persian weaving features a dense, highly saturated indigo field. The robust use of this deep blue color provides a dramatic contrast to the vibrant secondary palette. The design employs a classic Sultanabad structure, utilizing large, stylized palmettes, rosettes, and intricate vinery. This continuous, repeating structure creates a harmonious allover design that fills the entire field without relying on a central medallion, offering visual depth and complexity. Woven with a substantial wool pile and commanding dimensions, this piece is ideally suited as a room size rug. The scale and presence of this Sultanabad make it an ideal anchor for sophisticated interior design schemes, demonstrating the enduring quality of fine Persian weaving.
