Antique Oushak Turkish 1900s Rug, Country of Origin: Turkey, Circa Date: 1900s. This exceptional example of the classic Oushak style captures the grandeur and soft palette characteristic of early 20th-century Anatolian weaving. The design centers on a bold, stepped medallion rendered in warm red tones, immediately establishing a commanding presence. The field is defined by a rich, oxidized madder red, beautifully contrasted by subtle secondary accents. The use of natural dyes ensures a subtle variation in saturation, lending depth and authenticity to this piece. Such magnificent antique rugs are highly sought after for their ability to anchor a room with historical elegance. Within the main medallion and spandrels, the weaver has incorporated highly stylized animal figures—likely deer or gazelles—alongside intricate palmettes and stylized floral motifs.
