Antique Large Chinese - Peking Knotted Rug ornate, Circa Date: 1920s. This exceptional example of early 20th-century Chinese weaving captures the elegance and restrained artistry characteristic of the Peking style. The piece presents a sophisticated design sensibility, making it a highly desirable addition to any collection of antique rugs. The deep, saturated indigo field provides a dramatic backdrop for the scattered, delicate medallions and vignettes, which often depict traditional landscapes and symbolic flora. This rich hue is central to the rug's stately presence, offering a classic example of blue color rugs from the period. The use of soft apricot, pale gold, and muted teal accents prevents the dark ground from becoming overwhelming.
