Antique Malayer Persian Ivory 1930s Rug, Circa Date: 1930s. This exquisite piece represents the finest weaving traditions of malayer, a region renowned for producing durable and highly detailed village carpets. Dating to the 1930s, this rug exhibits the characteristic nomadic geometry softened by subtle Persianate influences, making it a sophisticated example of early 20th-century weaving. The central field is dominated by a beautifully rendered Tree of Life motif, set against a luminous ground of ivory color rugs. This light, neutral foundation allows the secondary colors—rich browns, soft terracotta, and deep midnight blue accents—to achieve striking contrast without overwhelming the delicate composition. The design is executed with precision, showcasing the weaver's masterful control over density and pattern placement.
