Antique Sultanabad Persian Green 1890s Rug, Circa Date: 1890s. This magnificent example of 19th-century Persian weaving exemplifies the grandeur associated with Sultanabad rugs. Originating from the Arak region, these pieces were highly sought after by Western markets for their sophisticated designs and robust structure, positioning them among the most desirable antique rugs of the period. The defining characteristic of this piece is its deeply saturated field, rendered in a rare, mossy olive tone that places it within the esteemed category of green color rugs. This verdant hue provides a striking contrast to the secondary palette of faded terracotta, soft ivory, and subtle indigo accents found within the central medallion and the main border.
