Antique American Square Quilt

Antique American Square Quilt: a quilt made in the United States, 72 x 72 inches (6' x 6'). It is pieced from fabric and quilted through to a backing, not knotted or woven like a rug. Quilts like this were made as bed coverings; today they are hung as textile art or used as a throw or bed topper. Because it is a textile, we do not recommend it for use on the floor. The structure features a repeating grid, where individual panels are filled with intricate, non-repeating geometric forms. These irregular, pieced sections utilize contrasting colors and textures, creating a sense of movement and depth. This unique approach to composition creates a dynamic allover effect, ensuring visual interest across the entire field without relying on a centralized medallion.
