Antique Agra - Cotton Indian Blue 1925 Rug, Circa Date: 1925. This exceptional piece from the Indian weaving tradition represents the vibrant aesthetic shift occurring in the early 20th century. Its construction, utilizing cotton, lends a unique texture and drape, distinguishing it from typical wool compositions found among antique rugs. The field is dominated by a brilliant, almost cerulean hue, providing a dynamic backdrop for the repeating motifs. This saturated use of color makes it a compelling example within our collection of blue color rugs, offering a refreshing departure from the deeper indigo tones often associated with traditional Agra production. The design employs a striking series of oversized, stylized palmettes, alternately rendered in rich yellows, maroons, and creams.
