Antique Oversized Indian Knotted Rug, Country of Origin: India, Circa Date: 1930s. This magnificent piece is a superb example of antique rugs from the early 20th century, distinguished by its deeply saturated field color and intricate, narrative design. The central motif is a stylized, repeating Tree of Life, richly populated with flowering branches and various avian figures. The breathtaking field is rendered in a complex, muted shade of cerulean, placing it among the most desirable blue color rugs of the period. This deep, tranquil background allows the detailed botanical elements—including delicate blossoms in soft rose and cream—to emerge with striking clarity. The use of natural dyes contributes to the exceptional patina and subtle variation across the surface.
