Decorative Gray Antique Turkish Room Size Tribal Oushak Area Rug

$22,500.00

Antique Oushak Turkish Allover Geometric 1890s Rug, Country of Origin: Turkey, Circa Date: 1890s. This exceptional piece exemplifies the enduring artistry of Oushak rugs, featuring a sophisticated, yet subtly tribal, geometric field pattern. The use of natural dyes provides a depth of color rarely achieved in later productions, lending the textile an immediate sense of age and authenticity. The palette is defined by an unusual, soft gray-green field, providing a serene backdrop for the stylized motifs rendered in warm saffron, terracotta, and subtle ivory accents. This allover design avoids a central medallion, allowing the eye to wander across the surface, a hallmark of highly desirable antique rugs from this period. Framed by a striking, multi-layered border system dominated by brilliant mustard yellow and rust red, the rug offers a powerful visual contrast to the muted field.
