Antique Large Square Ningxia Chinese Hand Knotted Pile Rug, Country of Origin: China, Circa Date: 1850s. This exceptional example of ningxia rugs showcases the powerful aesthetic of mid-19th century Qing Dynasty weaving. Its generous square dimensions classify it as a truly large oversized rug, suitable for grand interiors requiring a statement piece of significant scale. The field presents a vibrant, saturated hue, often categorized as a deep coral color, providing a dramatic contrast to the dense, repeating indigo and pale blue floral motifs. This striking color combination is characteristic of the finest Chinese rugs produced for imperial or high-ranking domestic use during this period, demonstrating mastery over natural dye processes.
