Antique Bijar Hallway Runner Wool Blue Rug, Country of Origin: Iran / Persia, Circa Date: 1900s. This exceptional example of a Iranian / Persian weaving tradition showcases the robust construction and saturated dyes for which the Kurdish region of Bijar is renowned. Dating from the turn of the 20th century, this piece represents the enduring quality expected of true antique rugs. The field is dominated by a deep, rich indigo, providing the perfect canvas for the intricate botanical elements. The use of this striking blue color is characteristic of sophisticated workshop pieces, balanced here by vibrant secondary tones of salmon, rust, and pale celadon. These contrasting hues prevent the dense patterning from feeling heavy, lending an energetic quality to the whole composition.
