Breathtaking Large Antique Persian Blue Background Garous Design Bidjar Rug

Antique Large Bijar Iran Knotted Rug, Circa Date: 1890s. This magnificent example of bijar weaving represents the apex of late 19th-century Persian craftsmanship, renowned for its exceptional durability and robust structure. We categorize this piece as a large oversized rug, making it ideal for defining a grand reception space or formal dining room. The deeply saturated indigo field provides a powerful contrast to the highly stylized motifs rendered in rich terracotta, forest green, and mustard yellow. A notable element of the palette is the vibrant use of salmon coral pink tones, which articulate the intricate lattice framework and highlight the stylized palmettes throughout the design. Characteristic of the finest Kurdish weaving traditions, the dense structure supports a complex allover design that fills the entire field without relying on a central medallion.
