Antique Caucasian - Zeichur Small Scatter Size Wool Blue Rug, Circa Date: 1870s. This exemplary piece of weaving history represents the finest tribal artistry of the Caucasus region. Dating to the late 19th century, it is a significant example among antique rugs, showcasing the raw, powerful geometry characteristic of the Zeichur subgroup, known for its highly stylized and talismanic motifs. The field is dominated by a rich, saturated indigo, providing a dramatic backdrop for the complex iconography. This profound use of natural dyes results in a mesmerizing depth, placing it firmly within the category of exceptional blue color rugs. Secondary hues of madder red, ivory, and ochre punctuate the design, lending vitality and warmth to the dense composition. The intricate structure features a highly stylized, repeating pattern of abstract zoomorphic and geometric elements.
