Bold Tribal Antique Hand Knotted Wool Pile Oversized Persian Bakhtiari Rug

Antique Oversized Bakhtiari Persian Knotted Rug, Circa Date: 1930s. This exceptional Persian weaving from the early 20th century exemplifies the Bakhtiari tradition, known for its robust structure and rich complexity. The central field is dominated by a profound, saturated ground color, creating a dramatic backdrop for the vibrant motifs, typical of black color rugs that emphasize the secondary palette. The design features a highly detailed, continuous arrangement of stylized palmettes, serrated leaves, and meandering vines. This dense composition, known as an allover rugs pattern, ensures visual interest across the entire surface, reflecting the skill and patience of the weavers who executed this complex piece. Juxtaposed against the dark ground are jewel tones of madder red, saffron gold, and deep cerulean blue, all derived from natural dyes.
