Bold Colorful Checkerboard Design Antique Tribal Persian Gabbeh Rug

Antique Gabbeh Persian Multicolor 1930s Rug, Circa Date: 1930s. This exceptional piece exemplifies the nomadic weaving traditions of the Gabbeh people, characterized by a thick, luxurious pile and an intentionally abstracted aesthetic. As a genuine antique rug from the early 20th century, it captures a pivotal moment when tribal designs began influencing modernist art and design. The field is dominated by a striking, large-scale grid composed of deep, saturated blocks of color—primarily rich madder red, indigo blue, and dark chocolate brown, punctuated by brilliant cream squares. This powerful arrangement of hues creates a dynamic, high-impact composition, placing it firmly within the category of multicolor jewel tone rugs. The dyes used retain a beautiful depth, showcasing the quality of the wool and the weaver's skill.
