Antique N.W. Persian Persian Coral 1880s Rug, Circa Date: 1880s. This exceptional example of antique rugs from Northwestern Persia showcases the robust, deeply saturated palette favored by village weavers of the late 19th century. The strong presence of madder dyes and a natural wool foundation speaks to its authentic tribal heritage. The color story is defined by a striking contrast between deep indigo and rich, earthy browns, punctuated by highlights of ivory and goldenrod. Crucially, the rug incorporates the distinctive coral color that lends warmth and visual complexity to the geometric field, a sought-after characteristic in pieces from this region. Structurally, the composition features a highly stylized, repeating sequence of stepped diamonds and hexagonal elements running down the central axis.
