Antique Kurdish Iran Knotted Rug, Circa Date: 1930s. This exceptional piece exemplifies the rugged artistry characteristic of kurdish rugs, known for their deeply saturated colors and powerful geometric compositions derived from tribal traditions. The deeply saturated field, rendered in rich indigo, provides a striking backdrop for the complex, stepped lozenge medallions. This masterful use of natural dye highlights why we prize blue color rugs from this region, where traditional pigments achieved unparalleled depth and longevity. The central design features a chain of interlocking, highly stylized geometric forms, framed by a series of precise minor borders filled with symbolic motifs. Its narrow, elongated dimensions make it a perfect example of fine hallway runner rugs, designed to define and enhance transitional spaces.
