Antique Chinese Peking Medallion Blue 1900s Rug, Circa Date: 1900s. This exceptional piece exemplifies the refined aesthetic of early 20th-century Chinese weaving, characterized by its open field and powerful, graphic motifs. The design is anchored by a striking central medallion and complementary corner spandrels, rendered in creamy beige against a saturated field. The rug's primary appeal lies in its magnificent use of color. The field is saturated with a rich, deep indigo, providing a dramatic backdrop for the stylized elements. This intense shade of blue is highly sought after in decorative textiles, offering depth and sophistication that transcends passing trends.
