Antique Kilim Caucasian Geometric Flat Weave Rug, Circa Date: 1890s. This exceptional late 19th-century flat weave exemplifies the robust, highly symbolic artistry of the Caucasus region. Unlike pile carpets, the kilim technique emphasizes sharp lines and bold color blocking, making this piece a striking example of antique rugs from the period. The composition is dominated by a field of interlocking, stepped motifs and large, stylized diamond medallions. The palette relies on high-contrast natural dyes, featuring saturated madder reds and striking pools of deep indigo, providing a powerful visual anchor among the blue color rugs in our collection. Woven with tightly packed wool wefts, this kilim possesses the inherent durability characteristic of nomadic and village textiles.
