Blue Rectangle Chinese - Peking Room Size Antique Knotted Wool 1930s Rug, Circa Date: 1930s. This exceptional Chinese Peking piece captures the restrained elegance of the Art Deco era, characterized by its bold use of color and simplified structure. As a fine example of antique rugs, its wool pile retains a remarkable luster, reflecting the quality craftsmanship of the period. The field is dominated by a rich, deeply saturated indigo, creating a magnificent expanse of blue color rugs. This expansive canvas is not entirely plain; it features a sophisticated, tone-on-tone ghosted pattern of stylized scrolling vines and medallions, visible only through the varied light reflection of the expertly knotted wool. A striking contrast is achieved by the wide, pale camel border, which frames the central blue rectangle with precision.
