Artistic Antique Chinese Dragon Cloud Band Design Baotou Room Size Coral Rug

$21,000.00

Antique Chinese - Baotou Room Size Wool Coral Rug, Circa Date: 1920s. This exceptional example of early 20th-century weaving showcases the dramatic aesthetic transition occurring in Chinese production. The large format makes it an ideal room size centerpiece, anchoring any significant interior space with its bold palette and intricate design work. The field is dominated by a striking, finely rendered geometric repeat set against a rich coral color ground, a hue highly prized during the Art Deco period for its warmth and vibrancy. This intense color provides a powerful contrast to the deep indigo and slate blue elements defining the central motifs and the expansive, graphic border. Typical of the finest Baotou production, the design merges traditional imperial symbolism—such as stylized clouds and phoenixes—with a modern, simplified graphic sensibility.
