Antique Moud Khorassan Persian Blue 1880s Rug, Circa Date: 1880s. This exceptional example of a late 19th-century weaving hails from the Moud region of Persia, known for its refined knotting techniques and highly detailed compositions. Its age places it firmly among the most desirable antique rugs available today, offering a tangible connection to the golden age of Persian weaving. The palette is dominated by a rich terracotta field contrasted sharply with deep indigo and navy accents. The masterful use of natural dyes creates a vibrant yet sophisticated chromatic balance, highlighting the symbolic central scene: a stylized depiction of a lion attacking a bull, a powerful motif rarely seen in standard Moud designs. The saturation of the primary blue color rugs provides a grounding depth to the overall composition.
